I am Patrick Wise, a figurative sculptor and painter creating work through exploration, movement, and instinct. My practice moves between bronze sculpture, portraiture, and abstract painting, with each piece developing through layers, textures, and unexpected discoveries. I create for people who connect with art that feels alive, personal, and open to interpretation. Working between the United States and Spain, I bring a sense of travel, place, and joyful experimentation to every piece.

### What is figurative sculpture?

Figurative sculpture represents the human form or other recognizable subjects through three-dimensional art. It can explore movement, emotion, gesture, and symbolism, giving viewers a tangible way to connect with an idea or story.

### How are bronze sculptures created?

A bronze sculpture typically begins with a metal  rod armature, which is surrounded by foil or foam or plaster gauze. Typically , platicine ( a soft oil based clay), is then applied as the outer skin. For smaller pieces I tend to use a polymer clay, which is great for capturing detail. Each stage requires careful attention to form, texture, balance, and detail. You know when a piece is finished when it speaks to you. It’ll let you know.
